A CO2 absorption unit was renovated to include all of the instrumentation and programming necessary to allow it to be remotely operated online in order to facilitate the laboratory learning of university-level chemical engineering students, especially for institutions without sufficient lab resources. The renovation involved testing and rebuilding of existing equipment, implementation of new equipment, and LabVIEW programming. An analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the available lab formats is also presented.
