Despite new, sustainable energy technologies, fossil fuels dominate the residential sector. The U.S. DOE wants to break misperceptions that solar energy is an expensive/impractical alternative; they created the Solar Decathlon, challenging college teams to design and demonstrate net-zero energy solar houses. WPI and its partners (Ghent U, NYPU), have entered Solar Decathlon 2013. As a communications consultant, I co-developed the competition’s promotional materials. This IQP summarizes my deliverables and reflects on lessons learned about communications in a large-scale project.
