Companies use many different inputs to generate outputs. This Project focused on a linear programming model used in performance evaluation of 25 property and casualty insurance companies. The goal is to determine the efficiency of each company compared to the peer competitors within property and casualty insurance industry. The technique is called data envelopment analysis (DEA). It is an approach based on data for evaluating the performance of a set of peer entities called Decision Making Units (DMUs) which convert multiple inputs into multiple outputs. The emphasis was on data selection and cleanup, mathematical approach behind the data envelopment analysis model, and the application of this model to the efficiency comparison.
