Computer security has become vital to protecting users, applications and data from harm. Our hypothesis is that participating in a training simulation that closely emulates real-world systems can be a better platform for learning security concepts than reading about security concepts in technical documents. This work tested the hypothesis and found that there was no significant difference in knowledge gain but users who played our game, CounterMeasures, completed their goals in less time and with more enjoyment.
