Enhanced Laboratory Learning: Online Supplements

Online supplements to learning are being researched extensively as a technique to aid in student learning. This project generated instructional videos of biology lab techniques. The videos were posted online, allowing students to access them before, during, or after lab sessions. Adobe Premiere CS4 was utilized to create and edit video clips prior to their uploading online. Students were surveyed at the completion of the lab to determine if the videos were helpful as a learning aid. Collected data were statistically analyzed and suggested addition of online videos as supplements to biology labs increased the knowledge and retention of concepts and techniques. Improved surveys and analysis could be used in future projects to gain an in depth understanding of the benefits of online learning. -
