Snowpack is extremely important to the Colorado River Basin. It is one of the most contributing factors to the hydrology of the area. It also provides habitat to the area's wildlife and is an important factor in determining wildlife behavior. As the snowpack responds to a warming climate all of these relationships will change. This paper examines what the effects of these changes may be by examining studies performed in the basin itself as well as similar areas worldwide. More specifically, it examines changes that will occur to the Colorado River Basin's water supply, wildlife, and microbial communities.
