Laryngologists currently study the vocal chords using a number of 2D qualitative methods. This project centers on providing a 3D quantitative measurement technology that would allow them to see all of the motions of the vocal folds. A LabView program, cantilever setup, and a MEMS-based throat collar were developed to test the validity of freezing the motions of the vocal chords. Upon validation, we proved that future research in the area of 3D laser fringe projection was viable.
