Interaction Screen of Transmembrane Proteins from the LIG Superfamily

open in viewerLIG proteins are distinguished by their Leucine-rich repeats (LRRs) and immunoglobulin (Ig)-like domains, present in the proteins’ extracellular regions. The Drosophila LIG protein Kekkon1 is known for its inhibitory effect on the Drosophila epidermal growth factor receptor. Some members of the LIG protein superfamily have been shown to enhance or inhibit cell survival, growth, and differentiation in the Central Nervous System (CNS), but little is known about the majority of family members. To shed light on the still nonclarified functions of LIG proteins, this project focuses on identifying specific homophilic and heterophilic interactions between a subset of LIG family proteins and ErbB growth factor receptors.
