Our major qualifying project combined structural design with Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. We applied our knowledge of wood structures to the revitalization of downtown Canton, Maine. The scope of our project entailed design and analysis of three buildings and a snowmobile bridge. After evaluating the town's needs, we created three dimensional BIM models using Revit Architecture and Structures. These models were then exported into Google Earth where they were placed on the actual terrain, enabling a more accurate vision of the area. Our final project provides structural analysis, cost estimates, and a visual representation of the entire redevelopment potential. We hope that these designs will greatly increase the tourism and provide more services for current residents.
