Fostering Community at the Canterbury Street Lot
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThe goal of this project was to foster community at the "Canterbury Street Lot." Located in District Six, the area was decimated by forced removals by the apartheid state. Working with Khulisa Social Solutions and local "street people," we designed and implemented a memory place and a mural. This work brought about a shift in the social dynamics of the space and uncovered ideas for a formal proposal for the potential development of different areas of the lot.
