The focus of this MQP is to understand the aspects of a Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) scheme, and how it can be applied to bridge structures. The Structural Health Monitoring scheme based on accelerations and is carried out to understand the effects of vibrations on a structure to identify damage. This is accomplished by analyzing a 3D truss bridge model and determining were the critical points of the model structure are. These critical points provide the necessary information to carry out the accelerometer placement to monitor the bridge effectively.
