The goal of this Major Qualifying Project (MQP) was to design and build a ski binding tester that could be built at other locations. The tester was designed to meet the standards described in the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) F504 document. Furthermore, the project aimed to add additional measurements for ski binding performance by analyzing the relationship between linear boot displacement in a ski binding and the moment about the z-axis described in ASTM F504. The conclusion drawn from this project was that this ski binding tester, with a few modifications, could be built to produce repeatable test results.
