WPI Energy Efficiency Lighting Study
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThis project determined the feasibility of lowering WPI's total carbon footprint and energy usage costs through the modification of light sources and technology. By conducting an inventory of light bulbs in various on-campus buildings and determining the utilization of each type of light bulb in each building, the team calculated payback periods, annual rates of return and reduction in carbon footprint for various replacement light bulbs. If implemented, these recommendations will reduce WPIs total carbon footprint by about 4%, while also reducing annual campus energy costs for lighting by about 3%.
