The positive growth of both the electric power and the electric vehicle markets denotes the impending inadequacy of the current grid technology. There will be a point that the current grid feeder will be unable to meet the growing demand of the customers and electric vehicles. In fact the demand will exceed the maximum allowable thermal level that a feeder can withstand; thus, the feeder will overheat and fail. There is a pressing need for a solution to be implemented that can rectify the inevitable failure of the current technology. By establishing an accurate model of a typical feeder that supplies power to customers and EVs various situations can be tested. The results of these tests can be leveraged to prove the need of a solution as well as determine the best possible solution.
