It is the goal of this project to investigate the role of technology in the construction of a concert hall and how the technology affects the acoustics and the overall quality of the listening experience. Through the use of psychophysics (the study of the physical sensitivity of human's senses) combined with information from interviews and research in the area of building acoustics, correlations were found between the building materials and the acoustical quality of the concert hall. Additional correlations were found between the decor of the hall, the seating of the hall, and the visibility of the performers with the enjoyment of a performance. The results of this study indicate that the application of modern technology, particularly audio equipment, can be used to significantly improve, in both old and new concert halls, the audience's satisfaction.
