The project analyzed the entire tree management function of the City of Cambridge Department of Public Works. It then targeted the areas in which the process could be improved for either efficiency or effectiveness. New methods were implemented and the new process was tested in a test area (Cambridge Common and Walker Street), then the new data analysis tools developed were extrapolated onto the entire existing tree inventory. The result was an optimized, repeatable and reproducible tree management methodology.
