The project involved an assessment of wind energy potential in Maine for the Union of Concerned Scientists. The analysis was performed using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), as well as an economic analysis outlining the long term investments of setting up a 50 MW wind farm. The project resulted in the construction of several wind class maps assessing Maine's wind potential. It also determined that class 5 or higher winds are needed to have competitive electricity generation prices.
