The purpose of this Interactive Qualifying Project was to investigate the social, economic, and psychological impact of an important human disease on society. Alzheimer's disease was chosen for the investigation due to its costly impact on affected individuals and their families, and because of the devastation caused by slowly and helplessly watching a family member lose one's memory, and eventually one's entire mind. We conclude from our report that new modes of treatment and the design of special Alzheimer's day care centers can greatly reduce the psychological and economic cost of this disease.
