This project evaluates the use of a Geographic Information System (GIS) for parking management within the city of Newton. In order to demonstrate the utility of GIS, the project team performed a parking study. Through field surveys and data collection, our project team assessed the parking situation in Newton Centre caused by the competition between commercial, residential and commuting interests, using GIS. This project also evaluates the ability to expand this management tool to the entire city.
