This project will stress the importance of space to society. By showing the historical importance of space the roots of space exploration can be established. By studying historical colonization, the importance of modern space colonization is established. Also explored will be the risks of space and how these risks might be countered. Next, is the technology of space travel. The history of space propulsion will be examined and how it has contributed to current technology. Future propulsion techniques will be evaluated for strengths and weaknesses. Finally, the technologies of colonizing a planet will be discussed. Starting with the journey, there are many different technologies that could be helpful from cryogenics to spin gravity. The technology behind making a colony self-sufficient will also be discussed. In conclusion, personal thoughts on how the colonization of space should be carried out, along with reasons why time and money should be invested in such a venture.
