This report, prepared for the Cuerpo de Bomberos, documents the creation of a database as well as a mathematical model that can be used to assist resource management. To complete this project, we collected data from 26 individual fire stations from across Costa Rica regarding equipment and human resources available at each station. We used this data to create a mathematical model designed to demonstrate whether a fire station's resources are appropriate for the area it serves. Using this model as a framework, we created a computer program to execute the model's functions and tested our program on all 26 fire stations we visited. Using information gained from the model, we were able to make broad recommendations to the Bomberos regarding resource reallocation.
