The project takes in aspects of music and video games to enhance and engage a student's learning experience of musicianship with a musical instrument. We focused on ways that one might learn to love learning how to play an instrument by interacting with a digital piano in a puzzle video game. We explored by taking the most commonly used teaching methods in piano instruction as well as gamification strategies, computer programming, and game art design. We then interviewed professional music educators and, using their feedback and the results of our background research, implemented these ideas into a music game prototype. Finally we surveyed students likely to play the game and obtained their feedback regarding the concept, our design, and its potential to be an engaging educational tool.
