3D printing with concrete is a new, innovative technology with promising benefits for the construction industry. Additive manufacturing and the optimization of the printing process has the potential to save costs on labor, framework, and material. There are many obstacles to overcome before 3D printing can be on a construction scale. This project first aimed to determine an optimal mix design, by creating a mix and building a 3D printer. After complications, the project then aimed to improve the interlayer bond between concrete layers and to develop an optimal nozzle design that could perform inline-mixing. Due to more complications, no nozzle design could be built to perform inline-mixing.
