Technologies are available in public bathrooms to increase hygiene and convenience for public users. The goal of this project was to survey the current use of technology in public bathrooms. Common fixtures include toilets, urinals, faucets, soap dispensers, electric hand dryers and paper towel dispensers. They were grouped into traditional and technology-based categories. Using a mixture of traditional and technological fixtures is common in most public bathrooms. Traditional fixtures are highly rated for initial cost and reliability, while technologies are known for hygiene, energy efficiency and environmental impact. Traditional fixtures are preferred in small bathrooms, while technologies prevail in larger bathrooms. Public places where traffic is considerable have more technologies.
