The El-Nino/Southern Oscillation, or ENSO, cycle affects human communities around the world, particularly in the Pacific Basin. The ENSO cycle influences already existing climate patterns, affecting meteorological patterns across the Pacific and around the world. These climatic disruptions induced by the ENSO cycle have immense social impact across the Pacific Basin. Consequently, understanding the ENSO cycle and its effects is vital to being able to respond to ENSO's impact on humanity.
