The goal of this project was to research and evaluate air sampling systems compared to traditional ionization, photo-electric, and heat detector systems. An analysis of the National Fire Incident Reports was used to determine how much more efficient detection systems were at decreasing damages and casualties. Questionnaires were used to receive feedback from engineers, building owners, and fire officials to determine their professional preferences in the matter. The results of this research were used to make recommendations that would increase the vitality of air sampling systems in the fire protection market.
