The objective of this project was to organize and execute an essay-based contest within the public school system of Worcester, MA. A team of four students expanded on the contest held the previous year by increasing the number of schools and students participating. The contest was held in the fifth- and sixth-grade classrooms at participating schools. The fifth-graders had a prompt based on the discovery of water on the Moon. The sixth- graders had a prompt based on the Mars rovers. The goal was to encourage interest in STEM topics within the Worcester Public Schools starting at a younger age.
