The purpose of this project was to examine the topic of stem cells and discuss the impact of this 21st-century technology on society. The paper starts by classifying the various types of stem cells and introducing their up-to-date applications for several example diseases. The report then discusses different views on the ethics of stem cells, and ends with examining the policies and regulations controlling stem cell research. The author has the view that, using strong oversight and regulations to prevent misuse, stem cell research including human embryonic stem cell research, and therapeutic cloning, should be permitted and funded to advance human civilization.
