Barbed wire has an interesting history and remarkable amount of variety. During this project, I researched many different sources related to barbed wire including books, articles, patents, and military manuals. What I found and what caught my interest the most was the different ways barbed wire and ribbon wire can be made and assembled, especially in military applications. These varied and versatile configurations show how big barbed wire has become, especially in military applications.

This report represents the work of one or more WPI undergraduate students submitted to the faculty as evidence of completion of a degree requirement. WPI routinely publishes these reports on its website without editorial or peer review.
