There is a growing population of homeless all over the world. Through our research we found that there are many reasons why people become homeless, and there is not enough awareness or support for these people. We brought awareness to the college community and received positive feedback. The group worked closely with a Worcester homeless shelter that provides support for homeless women. Through our work with the shelter we found the areas where the most resources were needed. The group collected essential goods that will be used in the emergency shelter, and also were able to establish the Abby’s Empowerment Fund at Greater Worcester Community Foundation. This fund is set up to help women with one-time fees that have been preventing them to process with their education.
