This longitudinal study connects previous WPI undergraduate research on outsourcing and offshoring with public and private research. Global trends in corporate outsourcing practices and the driving factors behind them were identified in order to draw conclusions about future outsourcing activities. This project saw evidence that production and research & development outsourcing sectors were returning to mature markets during times of economic uncertainty. The business process outsourcing sector saw continued growth in emerging markets while retracting from developing markets.
