BANGKOK / Bangkok Projects Program
Roong Aroon School
Chulalongkorn and WPI students formed a team consisting of both Thais and Americans. Through collaboration, peer review, and guidance from our sponsor, we completed our goal of furthering the body of knowledge regarding Thai elephants. We assessed current living conditions of elephants in Thailand by conducting multi-lingual interviews, observational analysis, and extensive research. Our findings resulted in a series of recommendations on how to help the current situation that Thai elephants face, focusing on improving current elephant locations and the processes regarding the reintroduction of domesticated elephants into the wild. This project gave us an opportunity to benefit a real-world problem and provided an incredible cultural experience in a professional environment.
