Abstract

This project set out to determine if the American federal government should legalize cannabis. As such, we investigated the history and current status of cannabis, and reviewed national surveys, expert analysis, and economic data. Our methodology utilized a weighted sum model in combination with surveys. From the net positive results of both analyses, we conclude that the US should legalize cannabis. We recommend further research to evaluate potential impacts of legalization and to determine cannabis policy design and implementation.
