This study, sponsored by the Business Environment Council, investigated people’s perceptions of indoor air quality (IAQ) in uncertified Hong Kong shopping malls and shopping malls certified under the Hong Kong IAQ Certification Scheme. Questionnaires were utilized to collect people’s opinions and data were analyzed with statistical tests. Results indicated no statistical difference between people’s perception of IAQ in certified and uncertified malls. Questionnaire results may be an indication of malls not maintaining IAQ standards post-certification. An update of Hong Kong’s IAQ Objectives was recommended after comparison with international IAQ guidelines. Summaries of some of the latest IAQ technologies were included in this report to be used as a potential future resource.
