Physics Data Sharing
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerWPI received a grant from the David Foundation for improving their Physics labs. This paper describes the formulation, implementation, testing and analysis of a data sharing system for use in the Physics labs. Its uses include real-time data graphing during labs, allowing faculty and students to identify problems quickly; it automatically sends data to each student in a group, reducing time spent shutting down at the end of the lab; and it allows students to enter data online to be saved into a central database accessible by faculty. The system uses Microsoft SharePoint and Office to perform its tasks, ensuring that the system is maintainable in the future. The final product may act as a base for future improvements, extensions, and as a system for other departments to use for their labs.
