Abstract

Arguments for and against the use of race in genetic research and drug development are discussed. The opinions of prominent researchers in this field were examined and the consequences that large scale projects such a the Human Genome Project could have on ethnic groups were considered. Researchers and ethnic groups need to come to a common understanding to develop solutions, ideally resulting in more accurate treatments for disease.
