Automatic Checkout Machines are being implemented in retail stores throughout the world. This report analyzes the factors that affect the success and function of Automatic Checkout Machines in a variety of retail settings. The data contained in this report is collected through observations, an experimental study, and interviews of retail customers and Automatic Checkout Machines users. Bottlenecks and problem areas are identified through an analysis of results and suggestions are offered to alleviate these conditions.
