Currently, Lankester Botanical Garden (LBG) would like to expand from being primarily a tourist attraction to a research facility focused on orchid taxonomy. The feasibility of this goal was assessed through a market, technical, and financial analysis. Surveys of researchers and case studies of existing research facilities were conducted and analyzed in order to provide LBG with recommendations to achieve its goal. We determined that a market for research at LBG exists and identified the facilities and equipment needed to attract researchers. Due to financial limitations, we have proposed a plan to establish this facility in phases. In addition, we have contacted U.S. universities and corporations to find potential sources of funding for LBG.
