DNA fingerprinting is an enigma to many jurists, as it can be extremely technical and very confusing. This composition explains important concepts such as what DNA is and why it can be so precise in the confirmation of a suspect. An investigation was performed into how DNA evidence is collected and how the evidence has impacted some legal cases. We conclude that when this powerful new technology is used correctly it has the potential to become a great forensic tool.
