Due to the complexity and rapidly evolving nature of DNA technology, it has proven exceedingly difficult to get DNA evidence understood and accepted by the average layperson, including prospective jurors. This IQP was written in order to educate the authors and the public about the limitless possibilities of DNA fingerprinting, and to show its impact on society. Hopefully, when the public possesses more than a rudimentary knowledge of this technology, their fears will be abated and they will come to recognize DNA fingerprinting as a powerful and useful tool both inside and outside of the courtroom.
