Educating students to identify and navigate ethical situations increases awareness of and ability to analyze ethical issues that arise in their professions. Many engineering programs lack a systematic incorporation of ethics, and without it, students may face difficulties when they encounter such issues as professionals. The goal of this project is to develop a set of ethics teaching modules that can be easily inserted into courses. A preliminary study showed that students preferred a joint-venture model, in which an ethics professor exposes students to tools in understanding ethical responsibilities. Customized modules were then piloted in various courses. Professors and students agreed that the modules were helpful in understanding ethics and were not distracting from main content.
