The ASSISTment project is an online tutoring system that assists students when they have difficulty using computer-based tutoring. The focus of this experiment is to test how scaffolding helps students learn mathematics more effectively, compared to having "just hints". The condition of "just hints" is analogous to many in common Computer Aided Instruction software. We performed statistical tests to see if we could get reliably different amounts of learning by condition but we did not find significant differences.
