The Eastern coyote has been living on Cape Cod for at least 20 years, and possibly for centuries. Interactions with coyotes have increased in recent years, raising questions of human safety, wildlife management and ecological balance. I researched the natural history of the coyote and its perceived threat to Cape Cod residents' way of life. I conclude that the coyote threat is minimal and that coexistence will require only small and sensible changes in human routine.
