The IQP on MQPs
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThe goal of this study is to assess the WPI Major Qualifying Project experience in terms of group dynamics; focusing on leadership, conflict, and quality of performance. To facilitate this endeavor, a combination of independent variables was developed so that the dependent variable of performance could be analyzed. GCSI, MBTI, and faculty surveys were among the methods used to gather data on the degree of cognitive diversity (conflict potential) in the group and its performance. Conclusions suggest that this pilot study has identified some avenues that future researchers may employ to further study how group dynamics affect not only the MQP experience, but project teams in general, and design teams in particular.
