The Housing and Social Services Department (HSSD) in the Borough of Merton sponsored our project to help them determine why Ethnic Minority Carers are not utilizing the available respite care services. We developed contacts with local organizations to establish connections between the HSSD and organizations. This networking was done through questionnaires and interviews. As a result, we were able to make recommendations on how to improve the following: cultural sensitivity, caregiver training, communication of information, and quality of services.
