The human embryonic stem cell (hES) has great potential to revolutionize modern medicine, yet its use in research has been surrounded in controversy since the cell's discovery in 1998. This IQP report examines the impact on society of this new technology, and investigates both the science and the ethics behind these remarkable cells, the progress that has been made in the lab with them, and the legalities and public policy associated with them.
