The importance of digitally cataloguing collections of historical significance motivated the sponsorship of this project by the Charles Dickens Museum. The immense number of objects in its collections required a system that would provide organization and rapid access. After conducting interviews, surveys, and case studies, we determined that a comprehensive collections management system would benefit the museum greatly. Thus, we created a collections management system that encompasses all of the museum's collection. The data from two existing electronic catalogues were migrated into the new system and over six hundred book illustrations were digitized and entered. User and administrative manuals describing the use of the systems were also created.
