Abstract
The investigation between lightning strike data and precipitation data in Southwest America will aid in the better understanding of rainfall and its amounts; thus allowing the United States to improve their policy on public water availability. This paper focuses on Arizona and utilizes lightning strike data obtained from a NASA satellite, as well as precipitation data obtained from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations. Other parameters such as elevation and surface temperature are factored into the correlation.
