The remediation of brownfield sites throughout Worcester is necessary to rejuvenate the underutilized parcels that are indicative of the once thriving industries located in the City. The Worcester Business Development Corporation (WBDC) commissioned our group to assist in the research required to proceed with the remediation of the Prescott Street Gateway Park. We have addressed the issues of historical status and occupancy, and related this information to the hazardous chemicals located in the area and their potential health risks. This combination of data is a component in the determination of a remediation strategy and a future site development plan. We also created a database of this information that is useful as a reference tool for future preliminary chemical site assessment.
