Abstract

There is concern about the continuing decline of enrollment in technological universities and the shortage of scientists in the United Kingdom. Students' lack of interest in science and technology is presumed to be an underlying cause. We used interviews, surveys and detailed observations of existing workshops to discover effective ways of stimulating children's interests in science and technology. We then applied these concepts to the design of two new workshops aimed at motivating students to pursue careers in science and technology.
